An adding machine is just like a calculator. You can do addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and even percents on it. It is extremely useful in offices and you can get them with or without tape. When you use tape, you can immediately check your work. This is especially useful when you are adding long columns of numbers. Read on to learn how to use an adding machine.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Put in a tape. This way you will be able to check your work. If you don't want to run a tape just turn the printing function off. Otherwise, a tape is printed.
Step2
Enter numbers. There are times when you have to add columns of numbers especially if you work in bookkeeping and accounting. This is easy when you have an adding machine to do the job.
Step3
Check your work. If you have two columns of numbers that should add up the same and don't, you can check your work by looking at the tape. Just look at the numbers you entered against what you should have entered--you will soon find your mistake.
Step4
Complete tasks assigned to you. They may be adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing or calculations involving percentages. All of these can be done on your adding machine. You can do one or any combination of the arithmetic functions.
Step5
Adding machines can also have a memory feature, which will allow you to store a number. This is useful when adding two or more columns of numbers that should agree. You can start by adding the first column and storing your answer. Add the next column and see if it agrees with the first, and if it does continue to add your columns. If it doesn't start looking for your mistake.
Step6
Learn ten key if you are using an adding machine on a daily basis. This will help you to enter the numbers faster and more accurately.

Tips & Warnings
