How to Get a Tan for Spring Break
As you head off to Spring Break, you don't want to be the only person there with super-white skin. Tanning before you leave will make you feel less self-conscious when you put on that bathing suit for the first time of the season. It's usually a good idea to get a base tan, anyway, because it will keep you from severely burning in warmer climate.

1
Plan ahead. It's not wise to wait until the week you leave for Spring Break to worry about getting a tan.
-
2
Go to a tanning salon. There are two options--tanning booths or beds. They both are designed for an all-over tan. It's up to you whether you prefer standing or lying down.

-
3
Talk to the tanning consultant about your skin type. Many salons require you to fill out a form. Be honest about how easily you burn, your hair and eye color and your expectations.
-
4
Tan for the amount of time the tanning consultant recommends. You'll start off with a few minutes to avoid burning, then add minutes with each session.
-
5
Buy a fake tanning solution. Go for a medium shade for the most natural look. There are lotions, sprays and wipes on the market.
-
6
Exfoliate your skin in the shower. Once you're dry, apply the tanning solution evenly. Make sure to follow the instructions on the label and don't miss a spot. Wait the recommended amount if time before re-dressing.
