Goose hunting is a sport that takes patience and concealment. Decoys are a must for goose hunting. There are different types of goose decoys. Some decoys are three dimensional. Some are battery operated. Some decoys just show the wings moving.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Consider the type of goose decoy that is made in a three-dimensional form. These decoys are made of plastic and of soft rubber. They are painted to look just like live geese. Some are even made to be positioned so that they look as if they are eating off of the ground.

  2. Step 2

Think about another type of goose decoy that is called a "floater." As the name implies, this type of decoy is designed to be put in a pond or lake. They float on top of the water and look quite realistic. If you hunt with floaters, make sure you plan a way to retrieve them.

  3. Step 3

Know that if you want to hunt with goose decoys, they make a collapsible goose decoy. This type of decoy is lightweight and much easier to manage than the full-blown plastic type. These decoys can be set up on a plastic stake. They usually attract live geese better because they move when the wind blows.

  4. Step 4

Hunt with goose decoys by making sure that you, as the hunter, are completely concealed. Wearing camouflage to match the terrain where you are hunting is critical. Geese have very good eyesight. Hunting in blinds is a must when you are goose hunting. Blinds blend in with the terrain. They make blinds you can lie down in and also types that you sit in. Position your decoys and wait patiently for the geese to come in.
