A brand new patio or driveway will increase the beauty and value of your home. If you've decided to pour the concrete yourself, you will save some money, but be prepared and knowledgeable before you begin. Most of the equipment you need is available from construction rental stores.

on 8/22/2008 Rule 1; never add water to redi-mixed concrete. You will weaken the mix. If you want a more workable mix, ask the redi-mix supplier to add plasticizers.
Rule 2; never add calcium to concrete. You are adding salt basically, which will help to ruin your concrete through freeze and thaw cycles.
