1
Call on the PTA/PTO. Most book fairs are arranged by a PTA or the principal. Let your touch point group know that you are available and willing to chair this event. Start planning early in the school year to allow ample time for preparation and staffing of the event.

Consider an outside company. The Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood offers a guide to commercial free book fairs. Many book fairs promote not only books, but pop culture icons and media outlets. This guide will help you get back to the heart of a book fair, the books and the love of reading. Check out their website for information on how to read and download the guide for free.

3
Contact Scholastic, one of the largest and most involved book sellers for schools and civic events. Ask about their half-price sales, when everything they sell is 50 percent off retail.
-
4
Pack them in. Offer refreshments and hours that are not only during the day for the students, but after work hours to get the parents more involved. Offer activities like a book reader once an hour, try to get a couple of children's authors to attend or have the kids vote for their favorite books. Hold a family fun night in conjunction with the event for one night to increase book sales.

5
Get the word out. Advertising your book fair is important. If the event is just for one particular school, utilize the parent newsletters, morning announcements and put flyers all over the school. If it is a multi-school event, use the local media to spread the word.
