Speed read the Bible by getting a translation that is easy for you to understand. Nowadays, there are many different translations in modern language that make it much faster to read. Since the language is familiar to you and reads as everyday talk, you can get through the Bible much quicker. The King James Version of 1611 is honored traditionally, but the language is difficult and makes for slow reading if you're not familiar with it.

Keep your reading time limited to just reading (not studying) if you want to speed read the Bible. Start at the beginning with Genesis and don't take time to read footnotes or study helps that may be in the copy you are reading. Keep your reading to just reading the text. You can go back later and take time to study something in detail.

Ignore chapter and verse numbers as you read. The Bible was originally written as uninterrupted manuscript. The chapter and verse numbers were added later by translators in order to make referencing possible. You can read much faster if you train yourself to ignore the numbered divisions.

Consider getting a translation that is "red-letter edition." This means that the words of Jesus in the New Testament part of the Bible are printed in red. As you read, your eye will naturally skim the text to get to the red and this helps you speed read the Bible.
