Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Photo editing software (optional)
Step1
Touch an empty space on your desktop to activate the background. You should click the right button on your mouse to raise the "Options" menu for your desktop background.
Step2
Select the "Properties" option in the menu for your desktop background. This option should sit at the bottom of the menu. It allows you to learn details about your current wallpaper.
Step3
Adjust your wallpaper settings from the "Properties" menu by clicking on the "Desktop" tab. This tab allows you to select wallpaper from any image file in your computer and set the appearance of computer prompts.
Step4
Click on the option for no wallpaper before you move beyond the "Properties" menu. You should be able to scroll to the top of your queue of available images to find a red circle with a slash and the word "None" in the next column.
Step5
Delete files and documents associated with your old wallpaper before you add a new background. You can look through your "C" drive, right click and touch "Delete" to remove large files from your hard drive. You should locate ZIP files that may be hidden in download or photo folders to complete the cleaning process.
Step6
Maintain a list of past wallpapers to avoid duplication and determine the effectiveness of similar files in the future. You should note the general appearance of the background, the dates used and the clarity of desktop icons.
Step7
Switch old background pictures from your wallpaper to your screen saver to maintain your design theme. You can keep favorite pictures and images in your hard drive and access the desktop's "Properties" menu to change your screen saver.
Step8
Fix the image files associated with a removed desktop background for future use. Your decision to remove wallpaper may relate to poor editing before you placed the picture on your desktop. You can go back to your photo editing software to change the resolution for future projects.
