Closet Organization Tools
Step1
Evaluate your closet: take out anything that isn't a clothing item like games, blankets or paperwork and find another home for them.
Step2
Evaluate your wardrobe: sort out the items of clothes, shoes and purses that are old, need repair or no longer fit. Donate or sell anything that you don't want to keep.
Step3
Remove all clothing items from your closet and hang properly: use hangers with clips for odd items that won't stay on a regular hanger. Put them back in your closet in groups: skirts with skirts, dresses with dresses and sweaters with sweaters. If you like, separate each of these groups by color as well.
Step4
Remove all shoes, hats, gloves, purses, etc. from your closet. Use large baskets, plastic bins, or boxes for each (one for gloves and hats and one for purses). You may opt to purchase matching baskets or bins for these items; cloth lined wicker baskets are pretty and functional.
Step5
Line your shoes up by pairs on the floor of your closet. If you can afford it, purchase a shoe rack to minimize space. Place special shoes in plastic shoe boxes by pair and label with permanent marker and stick on label.
