Collectors of old comic books store their collections in long white boxes made specifically for comic books. These boxes are commonly referred to as "long boxes" because, well, they are long. These boxes take up a lot of space, however, which might annoy roommates or significant others. Here are some suggestions for other uses for your long boxes so as to ease potential household tension.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Comic book long boxes
  1. Step 1

Stack comic book long boxes next to your bed to create an attractive nightstand to hold your bedtime reading material. Remember that attractiveness is in the eye of the beholder and comic book collectors love long boxes.

  2. Step 2

Stack long boxes parallel to your couch and cover them with an appropriately sized piece of glass to create a lovely coffee table. The glass you use will need to be really lovely to earn the "lovely" adjective for the table.

  3. Step 3

Create a small staircase in your closet by stacking a few long boxes. Children of a certain weight can use this staircase to reach things you are hiding on your shelves.

  4. Step 4

Stack some long boxes in a creative manner in your front door at Halloween and cover them with some paper and craft supplies to make Box-zilla, King of the Storage Monsters! Frighten small children--as well as your spouse!

  5. Step 5

Crouch down behind a stack of long boxes to hide from angry spouses and roommates.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can find even more uses for your long boxes by thinking outside of the box.
  • Long boxes that are filled with comic books can be really heavy. Be careful when stacking them and only ask for help from people who really like you.
  • Never stack filled long boxes higher than three or four boxes tall unless you have something else to help prop them up.
  • Do not stand on long boxes, as you may crush the box and the comic books. Small children are probably light enough to be supported by the box without doing any damage to the box or its contents.
