We all have compact disc collections which usually feature our favorite musical artists. However, anybody who has ever owned and used compact discs also knows that they can get dusty and are easily scratched. Properly cleaning a compact disc will allow it to be read easier by the disc laser in your CD player, and also will help to protect it for years to come. Here is how you clean a compact disc properly.

Things You'll Need:

  • Micro-fiber cleaning cloth
  • Compact disc

    How to Properly Clean a Compact Disc

  1. Step 1

    Add moisture to the CD. Hold the CD up near your mouth and slowly blow hot air over the bottom of it for several seconds until moisture has condensed.

  2. Step 2

    Clean the compact disc. Using the micro-fiber cleaning cloth, slowly and lightly clean the CD in small and revolving circular motions.

  3. Step 3

    Repeat this process until the CD is clean. You may want to repeat this several times until your compact disc is clean.

  4. Step 4

    Test the CD. Place the compact disc into the player and make sure that it is easily read, and your CD is clean.

Tips & Warnings
  • Apply gently pressure when cleaning your CD so you do not damage it.
