We are told time and time again that universal remote controls make our lives easier. However, when it comes time to program them many of us struggle with this seemingly nominal task. If you have ever wondered how you program your Xbox 360 universal remote control for your television set, here is how you can easily do it.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Television set
  • Xbox 360
  • Xbox 360 Universal Remote

How to Program an Xbox 360 Universal Remote for your TV

Step1
Turn on the television set. You want to make sure you manually power on your TV and have your universal remote control in hand, pointed at the TV.
Step2
Prepare the remote for programming. There are two buttons on the remote near the middle which are labeled “OK” and “TV.” You want to press in both of these buttons at the same time until all of the buttons are lit on the remote control. Keep holding the buttons pressed in, and after about 2 seconds the lights will flash and the numeric buttons will remain lit.
Step3
Program the remote for your TV. This is the easiest part. Simply press the channel up or the channel down buttons repeatedly until your television set turns off.
Step4
Save the settings. Once your TV has turned off you have to save the settings in your universal remote control. Simply do this by pressing the “TV” button. You will know it has saved the settings because the entire remote control will light up and flash three times in a row.

Tips & Warnings

  • When pressing the channel buttons give about a second in between, some TV sets will not react to the signal immediately.
