Step1
Have breakfast on the roof of Hennessey's, a restaurant that has a great view of the ocean.
Step2
Rent bikes, rollerblades or simply walk along the Strand between the large beach houses and the ocean.
Step3
Find a nice spot on the beach and engage in whatever beach activities you enjoy.
Step4
Clean up after you leave the sand and walk along the boardwalk, Hermosa Avenue and Pier Avenue. Enter into any of the shops you please.
Step5
Scope out the various restaurants while window shopping and make dinner reservations in one that catches your interest. Buona Vita is a great Italian restaurant where guests can bring their own wine without a corkage fee. The Strand offers a nice dinner selection with reasonably priced appetizers. Akbar's is a bit of a walk from the beach but has delicious Indian food. Creme de la Crepe does fantastic crepes and is always popular for breakfast.
Tips & Warnings
If you're an avid jogger or runner you'll want to get in at least one late-night run along the Strand. The Strand is the least crowded after 9p.m. A run from Hermosa Beach to Manhattan Beach is about 1.5 miles. A run from Hermosa to Redondo Beach (the other direction) is about .75 miles.
Memorial Day and Labor Day weekend are two of the best weekends to come to Hermosa because they set up a three-day arts and crafts festival called Fiesta Hermosa. There are many vendors and food and drink options that the entire city gets involved in.
The nights can get rather cool, so if you're out after dark bring a sweater.
