How to Make Your Wife or Girl-Friend Feel Special in Little Ways (No $ Required)

Making your partner feel special is accomplished more easily if we concentrate on what we can give of ourselves. (I know, I know.. corny, you say, but so true.) Here are some simple ideas--things you can do to make your partner feel special.

1. Offer to brush her hair.
   Ask for the brush she'd like you to use. Have her sit in a comfortable place, in front of the television if she chooses, or in front of her favorite window--whatever spot she wishes, and brush her hair in long, even, slow, strokes. If it begins to feel monotonous, count the strokes. That'll help you. Five hundred to a thousand strokes is plenty.
2. Draw a cartoon of something amusing the two of you did this past week (refined art skills not required--actually, the more primitive it is, the sweeter it looks). Leave it for her before you leave for work or before she gets home from work.
3. Take over one of her chores, without her knowing, for one day--whether it be making the bed, doing the laundry, cleaning.
   She WILL notice and will be most appreciative.
4. When she looks tired, offer to massage her feet, shoulders, or hands. A body massage is good too but more often is associated with a sexual invitation (which she might not be up for) whereas massaging the particular areas noted would, more often than not, be construed as being concerned for her well-being.
5. Spend time creating something for her.
   This could be a poem, a picture, a painting, a sculpture, a song--something that comes from you and is specifically made with her in mind. Do let her know that you are working on something because it's not all about the end result. It's about the thought behind it, and ultimately, the journey.
