Keeping the hardware on and around your drum kit clean is perhaps just as important as drums around them. Failure to do so can lead to the equipments getting worn much quicker. Luckily, you can keep your stands and pedals in top condition by following these simple steps.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • clean cloth
  • gloves (if necessary)
  • chrome cleaner
  • lubricant
  1. Step 1

For each piece of hardware that you wish to clean, remove it from the drum kit. Then, dismantle the piece of equipment, especially if you are cleaning cymbal stands.

  2. Step 2

Next, wipe it down with a clean cloth to get rid of unwanted dust or dirt. If you are dealing with many individual pieces, be sure to remember which pieces go where.

  3. Step 3

Use a chrome cleaner to produce a nice shine on the hardware. Then wipe it down once again. Pretty soon your hardware will be looking like it is brand new.

  4. Step 4

To keep your equipment working properly, apply a small amount of lubricant where pieces connect and to any other joints, springs or levers. This will help greatly when you are trying to adjust your stands later. It will also prevent rusting as well as the overall life expectancy of your hardware.

  5. Step 5

Once all of the above steps are complete, simply reassemble your stands and pedals. Place them back where they belong within the drum kit and you are done.
