Learning how to do anything quickly still takes time. unless you have sheer, God-given talent you won't be playing like Santana in one day. But if you keep trying and trying and once again try, you will find that all that trying actually paid off.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Guitar
  • Patience with yourself
  • Tuner
  • Lots of Resources
  1. Step 1

Make sure you have a good quality guitar. Now that doesn't mean you have to go without eating for a whole week to pay for that Gibson you always wanted. There are a lot of quality economically priced guitars out there. Also if you don't have a good ear you will want a tuner.

  2. Step 2

If you have the desire I'm sure you can find lots of resources. I'm also very sure you can find plenty for free!! Freinds, internet, books, and even God can provide resources cheaply or even free. Freinds can help by referringyou to a person of great skill or maybe they have teh skill. The internet has so many resources. I also listed some from the interent below. You can find very good book at your local music store. Prayer is something God uses to make sure you improve!!

  3. Step 3

Learn the parts of the guitar. There are different sizes as well. If you are a girl with small hands you might like a 3/4 guitar better.

  4. Step 4

Start out by learning the chords and also the individual noted all the strings make on each fret. There are many different ways to get the same note.

  5. Step 5

Learning the chords and the individual notes will be frustrating. It ok just walk away and come back in a hour after you have your mind back.

  6. Step 6

Practicing has to be at least 15 minutes a day everyday. Guitar learning is like how you learn a new language. You must repeat, repeat, repeat.

  7. Step 7

You will have to build up the muscles in the hand that you use for the neck of the guitar. Squeezing on a hand exercise ball, tennis ball, even a stress ball are good. Also you must build caluses on your fingers. This will hurt but once they are on there you will be ok.

  8. Step 8

You must practice. You have to overload and then overload again. Look at the other resources that are at the bottom of the page to get more help.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't be afraid to ask for help
  • Be patient with yourself
  • If you get frustrated go do something else then come back
  • Your fingers are going to hurt until they get caluses!!
  • Again fingers will hurt!!
