Your kit can look the same as it did the day you bought it by using a few inexpensive household items. Read on to learn more.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • a clean cloth
  • furniture polish (or other appropriate cleaning solvent)
  • a little bit of patience
  1. Step 1

First, take apart the drums that you wish to clean. Be sure to proceed with caution and keep track of where you put all of the lugs.

  2. Step 2

Rub down the shell, rim and lugs with a clean, soft cloth. Be sure to dust the inside as well and get rid of any dust from your drum sticks that may have made its way inside the shell.

  3. Step 3

Get rid of any further dust that remains between the head and the rim to ensure that the drum will reassemble properly.

  4. Step 4

For drums with a lacquer finish, you can clean the shells with a high-end furniture polish.

  5. Step 5

For the lugs and rims, use a high-end chrome cleaner to get the job done. This should put a nice shine along the edges that will properly compliment the freshly-cleaned shell.

  6. Step 6

Simply reassemble the drum and repeat the process as needed until your entire kit is sparkling.

Tips & Warnings
  • Clean regularly to to keep your shells looking in top condition. A good rule of thumb is to clean whenever you change your heads. You have to take apart the drum anyway, so you may as well kill two birds with one stone.
  • Do not use furniture polish if your shells are not made of wood. Doing so could potentially damage them.
