Red wine with meat, white wine with fish. That is the only thing I knew until I started reading "What to Drink with What you Eat." This book is the ultimate handbook for every entertaining and menu planning need. Follow these steps and you'll have the perfectly paired meal.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A recipe in mind
  • A grocery store
  • A wine store or local liquor store
  • The book "What to Drink with What you Eat"

How to Pair Drink with Food

  1. Step 1

Plan the food you want to eat. Say you feel like scallops or macaroni and cheese for an appetizer. Start there, then write down your entrée, followed by dessert. Write down the menu and leave space after each meal for drink recommendation.

  2. Step 2

Pick up the book "What to Drink with What you Eat" and turn to the page with macaroni and cheese. Yes: this book has every type of food--even fast food--listed as a reference.

  3. Step 3

It will give you several options, alcoholic and non-alcoholic. The book will show you have to pair with meatless macaroni and cheese and three cheese homemade mac.

  4. Step 4

Follow this step for appetizer, entrée and dessert.

  5. Step 5

All you have to do is purchase what is on your list from the grocery and liquor store and you are set to entertain (and impress) your family and/or guests.

Tips & Warnings
  • Always create a budget before planning any type of meal.
  • Offer alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages--for both the kids and the non-drinkers.
