Step1
Sign up for an eHow account then sign up for the writer's compensation program. You are compensated by the advertising sold from your pages (as far as I can tell)
You will need a PayPal account to get paid. There may be paper checks in the future.
Step2
Don't expect a check in the mail at this point, I wrote a few articles the first month and watched my income grow to .08 for about a half a dozen articles towards the end of the month. I didn't have much traffic to my pages, may 200 views.
Step3
Next month comes along, it's now November and I continue writing articles and watching the traffic they would generate. I found the more obscure the subject the more traffic it would generate. In November I had about 4,000 visits to my pages which resulted in about $17 in income. Not ready to quit my day job but a lot more than last month.
Step4
I thought about it for a while and wrote an article about how to generate traffic to your website for free.
http://www.ehow.com/how_2150689_increase-traffic-website-free.html
After I write each article then I do a URL submission for search engines for free. Today is the 10th of December and I have over 10,000 views on my articles and sitting at $16 so far this month and am expecting to break $50 by the end of the month. If you put my earnings on a graph you'd see a pretty dramatic increase over the last three months. If you stick with the writing new articles, taking the time to read other people's articles and adding new friends will help you how to write better articles. I'm still waiting for some criticism. Thanks!
Step5
I had received a question about how to make more money on eHow and this is the response I gave:
-First- you will need to write a lot more articles if you want to build a steady stream of income.
-Second- you can sign up for affiliate programs where you get paid commissions on sales of products and write an eHow article that points to your affiliate page (that's a double chance of making money). Below is an example of an affiliate page and
the eHow article points to the affiliate page.

-Third- make a PayPal selling page with some product you directly sell, I prefer downloads since this keeps the process simple. Below is an example. The eHow points to the second page.

by kmerola1 on 01/17/08 : I have written only a couple of articles and granted they only have a couple hundred views each but I have yet to see a single cent for encouragement. Is it normal to still have a balance of $0.00? ... more » respond »

on 2/1/2008 What an honest and well written advice. This is the best article I've read on making money on eHow. It is refreshing to see an earn money ad that is not all hyped up and one which is as helpful as this is rare! Thanks!
