Finding good tasting wine at an affordable price can seem impossible or too complicated. This is not the case. If you're on a budget, but love wine, this list is for you. You'll find a great way to explore and experiment with the vast variety of wines out there without emptying your bank account.

Step1
Hit up your local "alternative" grocers, such as Trader Joes, Whole Foods, Earth Fare and Wild Oats. These stores specialize in organic, fair trade fare that often can more expensive than products sold in traditional supermarkets. However, these specialty grocers have broad selections of domestic and international wines at reasonable, even cheap prices. They also often feature great bottles on sale.
Step2
Use your numbers. Specialty grocers and wine shoppes will often post signs on many of their bottles with the standardized wine ratings. Many of the rated wines are called out because they are inexpensive but carry high ratings. These wines easily can satisfy the palette and wallet. With ratings around 90 and above, these bottles are steals.
Step3
Talk to your local wine shoppe owner. While selling more expensive bottles is more beneficial to them, you will be surprised at how knowledgeable and generous they can be in helping you find a great wine at your price.
Step4
Pay attention to wine articles in magazines and newspapers. Many cooking magazines and home magazines publish features on great new bottles of wine that are priced for the masses. Use these tips to explore new varieties and choices out there. Examples include Rachel Ray's magazine, "Real Simple" and "The New York Times."
