The French press is considered by many, including myself, to be the best way to prepare coffee. Used properly the French Press is also an excellent way to prepare loose tea as well. Read on to learn how to make tea with a French press.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • French press loose tea
  • Hot water
  • Teacup or mug
  1. Step 1

Before using be sure to wash the French press thoroughly, removing any coating that might have been left since the last use. The metal parts seem to attract all the bitter alkaloids in caffeinated drinks and will pass these tastes on to your cuppa if they are not scrubbed.

  2. Step 2

For a four cup press add one quarter of a cup of loose dry tea. Bring your water to just under boiling.

  3. Step 3

Add the water to the press. Unlike coffee, tea needs only 30 seconds or so to steep, this can be hurried along farther by depressing the plunger at the top of the press once or twice.

  4. Step 4

Pour tea into the waiting cups or mugs. Add sugar, cream or lemon as you prefer. Enjoy your cup of tea.
