The twisting triangle pose is a wonderful asana for the entire system. It tones the internal organs and strengthens the leg, trunk and waist muscles. It should be performed regularly.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Yoga mat
  • Loose, comfortable clothing
  1. Step 1

Stand with your legs three to four feet apart, feet facing forward. Turn your right foot to the right. Your right heel should be in the middle of the left foot.

  2. Step 2

Inhale and raise your arms to shoulder level. As you exhale twist to the right side and place the left hand on the mat on the outside of the right foot. Extend the right arm up and look up towards the hand.

  3. Step 3

Keep both legs straight and your arms should form a straight line. Feel the stretch in your back.

  4. Step 4

Inhale back up to the center and turn your left foot out, right foot facing forward. Do not lower your arms. Exhale and twist to your left side. Bring your right hand to the mat on the outside of your left foot. Extend the left arm up and gaze at your left hand.

  5. Step 5

Inhale back up to the center and exhale your arms back down beside you. Walk your feet together.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you find it difficult to place your palm on the mat and keep the legs straight at the same time, place your hand on top of the foot.
  • Do not practice if you have back problems.
