How to Control Anger With Yoga

According to yoga, anger is our biggest obstacle to peace of mind. It afflicts our mind almost every day. It may appear to give us a sense of power but in actuality, it undermines the happiness of ourselves and others.

  • Patience
  • Practice
  1. Step 1

    Entertain counter-thoughts. When you feel angry, control it with thoughts of love and happiness. This is easy and it actually works.

  2. Step 2

    Change your scenery. If you find yourself extremely angry, leave the place immediately and go for a long walk. Repeat your personal mantra or the universal mantra "OM." Wash your hands with cold water. Drink a glass of cold water.

  3. Step 3

    Control anger by developing the virtues of patience, universal love, tolerance and forgiveness. Choose one virtue and practice every day for a week.

  4. Step 4

    Practice mouna or silence. If you find yourself becoming angry, try to control your speech. Avoid saying harsh or mean things to others.
