How to Make Macaroni and Cheese with Ham

Home made macaroni and cheese is so simple to make, yet it’s always received like a masterpiece. With the simple addition of leftover baked ham this dish becomes the main entrée. Get even more kudos when you make macaroni and cheese with ham.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 lb package sea shells pasta
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • ½ cup all purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup evaporated milk
  • 1/2 lb grated cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1/4 tsp dry ground mustard
  • Tiny pinch of turmeric
  • 1/4 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 1/2 cups baked ham chunks
  • 2 tsp paprika
  1. Step 1

    Boil shells in a 6 quart saucepan with water and ⅓ cup of vegetable oil.

  2. Step 2

    Melt butter in 3 qt. saucepan. Stir in flour, salt, pepper, dry mustard, turmeric and Worcestershire sauce. Cook over low heat stirring constantly for 3 minutes. Add milk and evaporated milk and heat to a boil while stirring. Add cheese and stir until melted. Keep on low heat, stirring occasionally while macaroni cooks.

  3. Step 3

    Drain shells and pour into 9 x 13-inch baking dish with ham chunks. Pour in cheese sauce and stir to completely cover ham and shells.

  4. Step 4

    Bake at 325 for 30 minutes. Sprinkle with paprika after removing from oven.
