Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Step1
Good copywriting requires a basic knowledge of marketing as well as understanding consumer behavior. Together, these two areas give the copywriter the background information needed to develop good written materials that are persuasive and relevant.
Step2
A key to writing copy others want to read is to first study and know your target market. You want to think like your consumer, not like how you want to think about a product or service. When the copywriter can think like the target market, she can write copy that anticipates questions that are in the minds of the target market. The copy answers those questions for the target group before they are asked.
Step3
Good copywriting is clear, focused, and concise. The purpose of copy is to provide enough relevant information for a person to be persuaded to take some type of specific action. So sometimes copy is long, other times it can be brief. It depends on what is being marketed through the copy. Use language that is easy to comprehend and is appropriate for the particular audience
Step4
Make the copy sound as if you are speaking personally to one person as you write. Tell the reader why he will benefit from using the product or service, not just that he should buy it. Good copywriting gives people a reason to make a purchase by taking away doubts and persuading the reader to take action.
Step5
Copywriting always includes a call to action that tells the reader exactly what to do next. Use words or phrases that make the reader want to take immediate action. Copy needs to be bold when asking the reader to respond so there will be no confusion as to what you want the person to do.
