Step1
1. Wash the container thoroughly and allow it to dry. Then use the container as a pot for a houseplant. Poke a few holes in the bottom of the container for drainage and then fill it with potting soil and seeds of your choice. Turn the lid upside down, place it underneath the container, and it will catch extra water that drains through the bottom.
Step2
2. Use cottage cheese and sour cream containers to shape hamburger patties if you don’t have a hamburger press. You can freeze the patties right in the container, and you’ll have perfectly round hamburger patties like the ones you can buy at the grocery store
Step3
3. Organize craft supplies. Elementary school teachers with small budgets never throw away containers. Instead, they use them to organize paper clips, pom poms, small scraps of paper, popsicle sticks, crayons, glue sticks, toothpicks, and any of the other zillion items they need for art projects. To keep contents straight, slap a label on the outside wall and the lid.
Step4
4. Store leftovers in them. Instead of buying plastic containers, just use the ones you already have. Again, as with the art supplies, make sure you put a label on the container. Otherwise, your refrigerator will soon resemble the sour cream section of the supermarket.
Step5
5. Give them to your children for sandbox toys. Sour cream and cottage cheese containers make great outdoor toys because when they’re worn out, you just toss them out. They make great towers for sandcastles or drums for little bands.
Step6
6. Use cottage cheese and sour cream containers to hold paint. Because they’re disposable, you won’t have to worry about cleaning your paint containers when you’re done with them. And if you need to take a break from painting, you can just put the lid on and you’ll know your paint won’t dry up.
Step7
7. Make a sieve. If you need a sieve and your nice one is in the dishwasher, just poke a few holes in a cottage cheese container, strain your vegetables or pasta, and then toss the container in the recycling bin or trash can.
