There is a use for almost everything if you have a little imagination. But what can you do with old stretched out socks? What about the singles that survive the fearsome sock eating dryer? You'd be surprised at what can be done. Read on and learn some new tricks for old socks.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Old or mismatched socks--white ones are great but you can use light colored socks and even dark socks for some things

Step1
Polish the silver, brass, stainless or clean jewelry. Put the socks on your hands inside out and coat them with the appropriate polish. Pick up the item you're polishing and rub it between your hands. Your fingers can work into grooves and twists so much easier than polishing cloths ever could. It's so much less work this way!
Step2
Clean the bathtub and sinks. Wet the sink well. Put a little scouring powder or liquid cleanser on the sink. Don't put too much because you'll use a lot less than normal. Rub the cleanser all over the surface with your inside out socks over your hands. Next run the water over your hands and rinse the socks and then the sink until both are squeaky clean.
Step3
Get out your furniture polish and start spraying. Put the socks on inside out and rub your hands over the surfaces. You won't miss a single spot this way. Tables and chairs with legs that twist and turn are so much easier to polish with your hands! Turn the socks around the other way to get a second clean surface. Toss the socks into the wash and they clean up great.
Step4
Turn the socks inside out and add a bar of soap or shower gel. Soap up the kids all over. This is so much easier than a face cloth that slips and slides around. The socks never slip and it's a nice soft feel and it has a little more texture than wash cloths so it cleans better. Kids can play with small socks themselves in the tub. Just put in soap chips and let them have a blast!

on 3/12/2008 The bars of soap in the sock is hitting way too close to the Wayan's guy who played (Homey the Clown) and went around hitting everyone with it. "Homey don't play dat!" ha ha Good ideas though.
