Most get-togethers generally have a theme. Most kids pick their favorite cartoon characters. There are the over-the-hill parties, and there are some parties with a military theme or even a sports-related theme. One way to get a lot of people involved is to host a rainbow buffet dinner. This type of event would work well as a church gathering, family reunion gathering or even at a class reunion.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Menu
  • Rainbow Decorated Tables
  • Program or agenda
  1. Step 1

Decorate the facility using each color of the rainbow. Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet-purple are the colors of the evening. There should be color-coordinated tablecloths, plates, cups, napkins, eating utensils, punch, decorations and even color-coordinated desserts for each table.

  2. Step 2

Select teams and delegate tasks. Use your best judgement with team selections. Although some teams will have different tasks, some tasks will be the same. For example, everyone will be expected to dress in their respective colors. Everyone will be expected to take part in researching the color, raising money or finding decorations. Each team will have a captain. However, each team will have to be assigned the types of dinner items to bring. It may also be that the committe spearheading this event decides to cater the meal, and each team be responsible for the drinks and desserts.

  3. Step 3

Prepare an agenda or program. Have each team research the everyday or the unusual significance of their team's color. Have a spokesperson present the color in a unique way via song, poem, handout or skit.

Tips & Warnings
  • Prizes may be awarded for the best decorations, the best dressed or the best presentation.
  • Certain groups may affiliate themselves with a rainbow. However, this rainbow buffet dinner has no affiliation with any group or organization.
