How to keep our country free

Today is December 7 - a “day that will live in infamy”. This is the day the Japanese attacked US soil - a surprise attack. We declared war. They paid a high price for this attack. But they didn't attack thinking they would fail. Their intentions were to make us submit to them. On September 11, Arabs and Arab sympathizers attacked US soil (not the first attack, but the biggest) - a surprise attack. Though no one country claimed responsibility, Arab nations and sympathizers rejoiced. It was made obvious to any casual observer that we have enemies. Someone was going after the big rich guy. They didn't attack thinking they will fail. Their intentions are to make us submit to them and their religion. And they have said as much. Though many have paid and are paying a high price, this war is far from won. Arabs are spending millions building mosques in our country and in the countries of our allies. We are easy targets because we are a free country with freedom of religion. They are sending radicals to these mosques to try and turn us from within. Like the WWII, this war is being fought on many fronts, but most people are oblivious to most of what's going on, and the press the majority of us see everyday is not reporting most of it. What do we do? How do we keep our country free?

Instructions

Difficulty: Challenging

Things You’ll Need:

  • media resources
  • libraries
  • internet
  • backbone
Step1
Don't jump to conclusions. Get the facts - you do it - get them yourself. You have books, and newspapers, and radio, and television, the internet, and people you know - all at your disposal. Use these things. Think for yourself. Become educated as to what's going on in your country, your state, your city, your community. Be aware. Get information from many points of view. Don't believe everything you hear and see and read. Make up your own mind about what's going on after you've gathered as many facts as you can. Separate the facts from hearsay and innuendo. Figure it out for yourself. You be the judge. You be the jury. After you know the facts.
Step2
Don't hate - understand. Hate is negative and nothing positive will come of it. Understanding other countries and cultures will open your eyes to their way of living, their problems, their triumphs, their people. Be ready to embrace what they are doing right and reject what they are doing wrong - but not without understanding. Understand their culture, their history, their motives for doing what they do. Be open-minded.
Step3
Look at the big picture. Don't readily accept things that are only good for you - or your community - or your age group - or your gender - or your race. Is it good for your country? Is it good for your world? Is this a worthy cause? Get involved. Do something. Make a difference – and make it a positive difference.
Step4
Get involved. Our country, the most powerful country on earth, has the most politically ignorant people on earth. Don’t be one of them. Read. If you don't like reading, listen and watch. But get multiple points of view. Become an active member of your community. Find out how your government works. Understand why it works the way it does. There are always reasons why things happen. Look carefully at our leaders – of our country, your state, city, and community. What are they doing? And what are they not doing. Why? People often have agendas. They are looking to drive you in a direction (as I am trying to do now - to learn about your country.) Do small things to make your agenda happen. Small things lead to big. Get the ball rolling. You take the first step. Others may follow, but if they don’t, no matter. You are on the path. March.
Step5
Be ready to accept change. The US is changing and will always be changing. Do not be afraid of change. Just understand it. Promote the good and fight against the bad. You figure out which is which – don’t let other people tell you which way is up. Listen to them, but you figure it out. Open your eyes and ears to what is going on and what's being said. Embrace change. Try it on for size. If it doesn't fit, take a look at it. Is it worth tailoring until it does fit, or is it going to be bad for you - and the country?
Step6
Do this every day for one minute. ONE MINUTE you say – that’s not enough. You’re right, but it’s better than no minutes. And one minute may lead to two – and three – and four. But start with one minute and see how you like it. If you run over a few seconds, well that’s all right. Maybe you’ll like it. Maybe you’ll like the feeling of being part of something bigger. Maybe you’ll like the feeling of being empowered. Maybe you’ll begin to feel like this is YOUR country, and now that your spending time trying to figure it out, you’ll take it back and make it part of you. And then you'll realize, THIS is how you start to make your country free.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be paranoid. Yes, they are watching us. And many are hoping we'll fail. Many are hoping our country will continue to have people who are lazy and decadent and corrupt, and we will fade into the oblivion of so many great countries before us. We, the people, have the power within us to keep this country great – and to make this country greater than it is now. And you have the opportunity to be one of the people who lead the way.
