How to survive a shooting attack anywhere

Nobody knows how they will react in dire circumstances when the lives of their loved ones or themselves are threatened by a shooter in a public place. I will share with you some tips that might help you get out of harms way.

1. Whenever you travel or go shopping, or if you are in a building that you have never been in before make yourself aware of the building and it's exits. Always look around scanning for suspicious people that might have motives that are less than pure. Liquor stores and convenience stores late at night are criminal magnets.
2. Park in well lit areas near the doorways if you know you will be coming out of a store after dark. If you are carrying purchases or just feel uneasy about walking to your car then request an escort from security. Men don't feel bad about asking for an escort from security as it may save you from a mugging or worse. Scan the parking lot looking for suspicious people or vehicles. You should be very aware if there is a full size van parked next to your car, you can be pulled into a van and driven off in about 2 seconds flat.
3. If you are in a gang related area, be aware of group activity moving around you. Scan the sidewalks up and down the blocks in both directions before parking your car, you don't want to get caught in a cross fire situation.
4. If the shooting starts and you are in a store:
   Know your exits and if it's safe duck out and run in the opposite direction and call 911. Zig and zag when running if you are being shot at and you will be a lot harder to hit. Duck behind objects such as shelves and counters.
   Keep a safe distance from the crime scene and switch into observer mode taking note of what the robbers or shooter are driving to help police find the bad guys.
   If you are in a store and can't get out, get down and stay out of the way, find a hiding place and stay in it. Being a hero will most likely get you killed or seriously injured.
   If the shooters are robbing the place let them take the money and run.
5. If you are in a department store then hide in the clothing racks or anywhere else you can disappear into. Look for self defense weapons out of whatever is around. A golf club or a baseball bat might help even the odds of survival but should only be used as a last resort.

• Turn off the lights if you are hiding inside, center the switch if it is a two switch circuit, I used to do this as a kid to mess with my siblings. This will prevent the lights from coming on from another switch.
• People with guns committing a crime are usually disparate and have no respect for life, that includes yours and mine
