Lets face it, for most of us work isn’t a nonstop thrill ride and instead of endless work there are many times where work is at a halt and we are left with nothing to do. If playing computer generated solitaire just isn’t cutting it, try these innovative activities that are sure to keep you entertained and hopefully won't get you sent to the bosses office.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer
  • Note cards or stationary
  • Language learning book or dictionary
  1. Step 1

Access your surroundings. It's important to know how much entertainment you can have in your given workspace. Computer games may work great for those in cubicles, but employees in small offices without computers might need to get a bit more creative.

  2. Step 2

Start small. Find an online game you enjoy. Register on a gaming site like MSN games.

  3. Step 3

Go shopping. The best way to entertain yourself at work is to pretend you aren’t there. Check out department store websites and, for deal hunter's, sign up to receive coupons and sale alerts in your email.

  4. Step 4

Keep up with your correspondence. Working in an office with nothing to do is great because you can do those things you never get around to at home. Write emails to your friends and relatives you never see. If you are feeling really productive, you could even bring in some stationary or note cards and send some hand-written messages.

  5. Step 5

Learn a new language. With nothing else to do, you might as well keep up your intellect. Try learning a new language, from American Sign Language to Japanese. There are easy how to books available at most bookstores.
