Placing promo content allows you to drive viewers/listeners to a specific location, inform them of special details or to show them fresh new network environments.

Things You’ll Need:

  • Traffic management software or daily listing of avails
  • Knowledge of promo placement strategies

Step1
Acquire a copy of the daily listing of avails and the shows airing that day or log on to your traffic management software and view the daily log.
Step2
Gather a copy of your available promos.
Step3
Determine the number of times each promo can air in a 24-hour period.
Step4
Determine day-part placement parameters.
Step5
Begin with promos that have time constraints and can only air in specific areas.
Step6
Follow with the promos that drive viewers to view prime time shows that evening.
Step7
Place the remaining tune-in promos (coming up next).
Step8
Distribute all remaining promos evenly or based on avail time allotted.

Tips & Warnings

  • Keep great notes of promo end dates, air-dates and rotation parameters. Misplacement or non-placement is very costly.
