Cats love to chew on grass, and indoor cats miss out on this treat, but they don't have to! You can grow your own cat grass quickly and easily, and your cats will truly love this tasty treat that you grow especially for them.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Many pet stores carry a cat grass growing kit with seeds to get you started growing your own cat grass. If you can't find a kit, you can purchase wheat-berries. Wheat-berries are a form of grain, and they are sold at most health food stores and in some bulk food aisles of supermarkets.

  2. Step 2

Fill your pot with potting soil, leaving a half-inch of room at the top of the pot.

  3. Step 3

Take a small handful of seeds or wheat-berries and place them just below the surface of the potting soil. Make sure they are covered, but not planted too deep.

  4. Step 4

Water your pot every day until the grass shoots begin to appear. Don't water too much, just lightly dampen the soil.

  5. Step 5

Allow the shoots to grow to a height of about 3 or 4 inches, and then place the pot where your cat can enjoy the tender shoots.

Tips & Warnings
  • Replant more seeds in the same pot after your cat chews all the grass or the shoots die off.
  • Use wheat-berries, not real grass seed, which is harder on your cat's digestive system.
