Instructions

    • 1

Shower to remove dirt and oil from your skin. Exfoliate to remove dead skin cells, leaving a smooth surface for the self-tanner.

    • 2

Moisturize your skin with lotion or cream. Let it dry thoroughly.

    • 3

Protect areas you don't want tanned, such as your hairline or eyebrows, with petroleum jelly.

    • 4

Put on thin rubber gloves. Squeeze a quarter-size dollop of self-tanner and apply it to your arms, legs, chest, back and neck. If necessary, use a "back scratcher" with a sponge attached to get to hard-to-reach areas.

    • 5

Apply a little tanner to your face and the backs of your hands with a cotton swab or sponge.

    • 6

Allow the tanner to dry fully before putting on clothes to avoid staining.

Tips & Warnings

  • Choose a lighter color of self-tanner at first to see how it looks on your skin when dry. To avoid streaking, rub in the product evenly.

  • If using a tanning booth, the color can easily transfer to clothing after getting dressed. Make sure you are dry before dressing. The substance might also have a strong scent, though not particularly unpleasant.
