Things You'll Need:
- One teenage girl requiring advice
-
Step 1
Show Sympathy
Be sympathetic to her concerns. I'm guessing here, but I think this shows empathy with her and that you're open to hearing what's on her mind. -
Step 2
Relate to Her
What she is telling you may sound like total nonsense to an adult. But stay with her and try to see the issue through her eyes. -
Step 3
Give the Advice You See Fit
Adults should have a better world view than teens. Share your wisdom, even if they don't accept it at first. -
Step 4
Reassure Her
Try to rebuild her self esteem with some reassuring words. Tell her how terrific she is. Remind her of her many qualities.

on 12/14/2007 Teens need parents that can listen first, some teens only want to be heard, offer advise only if they request it or put it in terms like "when I was your age, I had a friend that had a problem like yours" then offer your advise.
