How to Decorate for Winter/ Non-Denominational Holidays

Though the holidays bring joy and good spirit, they also bring a lot of anxiety about maintaining a culturally sensitive celebratory environment. Decorate your home or business for the holidays in a way that says you are festive without subscribing to 1 tradition or system of beliefs.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate
Step1
Choose neutral colors for your decorations, such as silver, gold, white, black, brown and light blues. Hang stringing lights that are white as opposed to red and green.
Step2
Choose a non-denominational theme. There is always something to celebrate outside of religion. It can be snow, winter wonderland, or the spirit of giving peace and good will.
Step3
Choose decorations that express the theme you've selected. Try to avoid off topic pieces.
Step4
Stay away from religious icons. Attempting to make an all encompassing holiday by accounting for every religion will inevitably leave you missing one. To avoid this hassle, stick with a non-affiliated theme that everyone can agree on.
Step5
Develop traditions and encourage other people to share in the celebrations.
