Prostrate cancer can be detected by a simple exam, antigen blood test and a digital rectal exam. The tests are called PSA and DRE. If you are over thirty, it is a good idea to have this test done at least once a year.

Lung cancer is also a risk factor if you smoke. Smoking is responsible for over 80 percent of lung cancer. Even people who are exposed to tobacco smoke constantly run a greater risk of lung cancer. Other contributers include proximity to high pollution areas (ports, train yards, and freeways).

Colon cancer is found mostly in men over 50 years old who have a family history of cancer. Food that is high in animal fat and being overweight, are the prime causes. A good diet with a lot of fiber can help prevent colon cancer. All men over 50 should be checked for colon cancer as well at a least once a year by a doctor.

Skin cancer or melanoma is common for people with prolonged exposer to the sun. Try to avoid being in the sun for long periods of time, especially around midday, when the sun is shining at its peak. Wear sunscreen, appropriate covering and long sleeves for protection from the rays of the sun. If you find a mole on your body that is misshapen, growing in size, or made up of various colors, it could be cancerous. have these checked out right away.

Men of all ages are susceptible to testicular cancer. Every man should check himself regularly for signs. This test is most easily, and privately done in the shower. Feel around each testicle for any pea-size lumps as this is an early sign of testicular cancer. Also, any aching in the testicles could be a sign as well. Semiannual physicals are recommended as doctors will do a sweep for testicular cancer.
