An ipod's battery life should last up to three years (500 cycles), but most people only get about a year and a half out of their battery. Here's some tips to increase your battery life by decreasing the demand on your battery

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Don't let the battery become dead and discharge completely. Charge your battery at least once every three weeks to keep it from dying.

  2. Step 2

Reduce the demands on the hard-disk by playing songs from an album or playlist instead of skipping around. Songs which are put into an album or playlist are cached together.

  3. Step 3

Use mp3 or AAC files instead of WAV or AIFF files. WAV and AIFF files are uncompressed, so therefore are bigger causing the hard-disk to work harder than it needs to.

  4. Step 4

Minimize your backlight usage. In settings under backlight timer you can decrease the time the backlight is on. You can also just turn it off.
