How to Make Simple Face Cleansers at Home

Radiant skin doesn’t have to come from expensive bottles. There are a number of face cleansers that you can make at home using ingredients found in most kitchens and bathrooms.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Small saucepan
  • Small bowl
  • Borax
  • Olive oil
  • Vaseline
  • Boiling water
  • Wire whisk
  • Jar or bottles
  • Funnel
  • Small saucepan
  • 6 tbs. coconut oil
  • 2 tbs. glycerin
  • 4 tbs. water
  • 2 tbs. olive oil
  • Jars or bottles

Easy Olive Oil Cleanser

Step1
Mix 1 tsp. Borax into 4 tbs. boiling water in the small bowl.
Step2
Melt 8 tbs. olive oil and 8 tbs. Vaseline together over low heat until thoroughly melted.
Step3
Remove from heat and add the Borax mixture.
Step4
Stir with a wire whisk until mixture is completely emulsified.
Step5
Pour into wide-mouthed jars or use a funnel to fill the bottles with the mixture.
Step6
Store in the refrigerator.

Easy Coconut Cleanser

Step1
Melt all ingredients together in a small saucepan over low heat.
Step2
Remove from heat and stir until emulsified.
Step3
Bottle as in step 5 above and store in refrigerator until needed.

Tips & Warnings

  • A drop or two of essential oil can be added to the mix for a pleasing scent.
  • Use a simple astringent made from equal amounts of vinegar and water after cleansing.
  • Adding ground oatmeal to either of the cleansers can make a face scrub.
  • Making your own skin-care products is fun and easy. You also know exactly what you are putting on your skin.
