Things You'll Need:
- Paper and pen
-
Step 1
Make a list of the things that are causing you grief.
-
Step 2
Look at the list. Is it family? Is it work? Is it a relationship? Are you surrounded by people who want more than you can give? Are you working too much? Do you have too many gadgets buzzing you?
-
Step 3
Ponder: What is it that you really want? This may take days, weeks, months to figure out. This doesn't mean your short-term or long-term goals. It means the essence of what you want your life to be.
-
Step 4
Write this down. The more you think about this, it likely will change.
-
Step 5
For each problem, write a possible solution. What would make it better? Often, it's a matter of simplifying or organizing your life. The fewer obligations and material possessions you have, the more time you have.
-
Step 6
Reduce the clutter, whether it's in your home or in your workplace. Clutter often reflects your state of mind, so if you straighten up, you may help clear your mind.
-
Step 7
Find 10 to 15 minutes a day to break away from the madness. Sit still or learn how to meditate. Walking can be a great stress release, or go to the coffee shop and sit and read.
-
Step 8
Slow down and do things more deliberately.
-
Step 9
Read "Eat, Pray, Love."
