Hidden journaling can be a fun way to make your scrapbook layouts a little mysterious. Journaling is one of the most important elements of a scrapbook page. Proper journaling will assist in keeping your memories alive. Journaling records should include who, what, when, where and how. There are many reasons you may want to include hidden journaling on your scrapbook pages. Here are some hidden journaling ideas you can include on scrapbook layouts.

Things You'll Need:

  • Scrapbook paper
  • Scrapbooking tags
  • Envelopes
  • Cutting tools
  • Writing tools
  • Adhesive
  1. Step 1

    Draw a rough draft of your layout. Include spaces for photos, embellishments and your hidden journals.

  2. Step 2

    Construct your scrapbook layout design and include your journaling in the proper places.

  3. Step 3

    Write your journal messages and conceal them on the scrapbook page. Some ideas include: tags or slide-out papers that are concealed on the page, pop-up windows to hold hidden messages, envelopes on the scrapbook page and messages or journaling hidden behind a photograph or photo mat with a tab for easy access.

  4. Step 4

    Embellish your scrapbook layout as necessary.

  5. Step 5

    Slide your scrapbook page into a photo-safe plastic page protector and add it to your scrapbook album.

  • Hidden journaling can be used on scrapbook pages with any kind of theme. For example, wedding pages can have love letters or messages concealed so that private feelings are available only for certain eyes to see.
