Making potstickers from scratch requires more time than effort. With a little organization, patience and a great recipe, you will be boiling and frying in no time at all.
Prepare the pasta. After your pasta has been allowed to rest for at least 30 minutes, pinch off small pieces (about a tablespoon) and dust with flour. Press the pasta into a rough circle. The dough should be thin but not see through.
Step2
Add the filling. Add a very small amount of meat filling to the middle of your circle. Dot water all around the edges and fold over the circle into a half moon shape. Press with the tongs of the fork until sealed closed. Place on a plate until ready to boil. Repeat this step until you have completed all of your potstickers.
Step3
Boil them first. Before placing the potstickers into the oven, you will want to boil them. Place only 4 to 5 potstickers at a time into the boiling water. Allow to boil for 3 minutes and then drain on paper towels. Continue boiling until all of the potstickers are ready for the oven.
Step4
Bake them up. Place the potstickers on greased baking sheets. Allow to bake in a very hot oven (550 degrees) for 5 to 7 minutes. Remove and enjoy!
Tips & Warnings
Two people make this recipe easier to handle.
When preparing the potstickers, place each plate full in the refrigerator until ready to boil.
If you so choose, you can fry the potstickers in butter or oil instead of baking.
Do not over cook the pasta.
Do not flip the potsticker in the oven. One side should be brown while the other is not.
