How to Copyright a Book with the TX Short Form
To register your book copyright with the US Copyright Office, you will either use the eCopyright Office website, the TX long form or the TX short form. The short form should only be used if you are the only author, the book was not made "for hire" and the book is new.

Enter the title of the book in section 1.

Enter the author's name, address and telephone number in section 2

Enter the year the book was created in section 3.

If the book has been published, enter the date of the publishing and the country that it was published in in section 4.

In section 5, check the boxes for the type of work the author did to create the book.

Check the box "Author" and sign the form in section 6

In section 8, put in the name, address, city, state and zipcode of the location where the copyright will be mailed to after it has been registered by the copyright office.

Send the form, current fee and 2 copies of your book to:

Tips & Warnings
Once registered, your book is copyrighted by the author for the authors lifetime plus 75 years.
Note, Copyright attorneys will charge $75 to fill out this form for you, however, you can do it yourself and save $$$
