Lip liner is a beauty accent that is used to define your lips and outline their shape. This beauty tool can be used to make lips appear fuller or down play full lips to make them look slimmer. In order to enhance your look and flatter the shape of your face there are certain ways you can line your lips according to the shape of your face. This process will help accentuate your features and bring out the best facial appearance.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Lip liner (desired color)
  • Lipstick
  • Lip brush
  • Lip base
  1. Step 1

Before applying your lip liner cover your lips with a lip base and a little dust of powder to prep the lips and make the lip color last longer.

  2. Step 2

Choose your lip liner and a coordinating lip color that will enhance your overall face makeup. Begin to line your lips according to your face shape.

  3. Step 3

Rectangular, triangular and round-shaped faces look best with a full mouth (big lips). Line your lips making them large and curvy. Make sure the line extends to the corners of the mouth.

  4. Step 4

A pear-shaped face is more attractive with long, lengthy lines following the natural shape of the lips.

  5. Step 5

Oval shaped faces should line the natural curve of the upper lip, while making the line slightly shorter on the bottom lip.

  6. Step 6

Once you have the perfect lip line for your face shape, then using a lip brush apply the desired color of lipstick. If you want to add some shine then top it off with some clear lip gloss.

Tips & Warnings
  • Lip liner can be hard to control, so the best way to make your lines precise is to start in the middle of the lips and work your way outward on each side. Take it slow and try to follow the natural outline of your lips.
  • If you make a mistake or get the line uneven you can use makeup remover to take off the lip liner then apply your lip base again and start over.
