Tips & Warnings
Other natural ingredients like witch-hazel, aloe and zinc-oxide powder can be added to your deodorant recipe to boost the effectiveness of the deodorant.
Witch-hazel extract is a mild astringent that inhibits inflammation and absorbs oil. This natural extract will constrict pores to help reduce excessive sweating.
Aloe vera juice will give your deodorant a pleasant smell while providing a cooling effect on the skin. Its healing properties will calm any skin irritations and itchiness.
Zinc-oxide powder is an odor neutralizer. It is a natural astringent and antiseptic that will not irritate your skin. The zinc-oxide will leave the deodorant mixture looking smooth and milky.
When making your homemade deodorant be cautious about the oils and ingredients you use. Make sure everything you are mixing together is compatible with each other. For example sage oil which is a popular ingredient in some homemade deodorant recipes should not be used if you are pregnant or have epilepsy. Even though you are using natural essential oils you should make sure the oils are safe for you to use.
When using alcohol or other strong ingredients do not apply after shaving the skin or they may sting and/or cause irritation to your skin.
