Measuring liquid ingredients properly can greatly change a recipe. A simple step like measuring oil can cause cakes to harden or mush from one mistake.
liquid mearuring cups
Always use the correct tool for the job, make sure you start with a liquid measuring cup-a glass or plastic cup with graduated markings on the side. Usually ranging from 1/4 cup to 1 cup in size, some much larger.
Step2
pouring
Place the cup on a flat, level surface. I use my kitchen counter to pour. Hold the cup sturdy and pour the desired amount or liquid into the cup. Always make sure you are on a level surface or it can change the level of liquid in the cup.
Step3
measured liquid
Next, either lean over and view the liquid at eye level to make sure it is the proper amount OR place the cup on a different level surface(like the counter microwave) so you can see at eye level the correct amount is in the cup. Make absolute sure you are looking from eye level instead of down because this can change the amount as well.
Tips & Warnings
Liquid measuring can get sticky, grease the inside lightly so oil and honey will completely leave when you pour the measured ingredient into the rest of recipe.
