Pop-up windows are an easy embellishment that can help create mystery on your scrapbooking layouts. These little windows can hide journaling, photos or mementos. Pop-up windows are easy to make and tend to add a unique twist to scrapbook pages. Making a simple pop-up window for your scrapbook layout can be done in a few simple steps.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Paper trimmer
  • Scrapbook paper (patterned paper or cardstock)
  • Adhesive
  • Bone folder
  1. Step 1

Cut a piece of heavy-weight scrapbooking paper like card stock into a rectangle shape.

  2. Step 2

Divide your rectangle into three equal sections by folding the sides of the paper to create three squares. There should be a middle square with two sides folded over the top.

  3. Step 3

Paste the middle section onto the scrapbook page in the desired location and adhere your photograph or object onto the middle square.

  4. Step 4

Close the window by folding the two sides over the middle section and securing them with an embellishment like a ribbon, brads or another kind of fastener that can be easily removed for opening.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make your window a puzzle with a question or word on the outside of the window and the answer or corresponding word hiding inside.
  • Use a bone folder to set the creases in the paper so your pop-up window will lay flat.
  • Only use acid-free, lignin-free and photo safe products on your scrapbook pages so that you can preserve all of your precious memories.
