Have you ever been to a burial or funeral service where the clergy struggled for the words to say or when a generic message became the eulogy for the deceased? It is very easy to personalize your own funeral service by simply living the type of ideal life that leaves no room for one to have to struggle for words to say.

Things You'll Need:

  • an exemplary life
  1. Step 1

Be nice. Although it is easier said than done to be nice, that is a sure way to be remembered. When people are nice to others, they create a life for themselves that makes it hard to be disliked.

  2. Step 2

Join a place of worship. It is very hard for a clergyman to personalize the funeral service of an individual that was not a member. Oftentimes a clergyman performs such services out of respect to the family of the deceased. However, it often becomes a struggle to speak kind words about a person who one barely knows.

  3. Step 3

Become involved in the community. When it is time for the final rites of passage ceremony to take place, it is customary that persons from the community say a few kind words in remembrance of the departed. Once again, it makes the community persons' message much more genuine and personal if the deceased was actively involved in a club, organization or performing group.

Tips & Warnings
  • Just like early preparations for a living will, it is advisable to sit down with loved ones and prepare the type of final rites of passage ceremony you wish to have. It leaves out a lot of guesswork and confusion for the family members who are sure to be under emotional strain already.
