Christianity is rooted in Judaism. Many Christians enjoy celebrating certain Jewish holidays. Here is how you can celebrate Hanukkah as a Christian.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Purchase a menorah. This is the first step in beginning your Hanukkah celebration.

  2. Step 2

Speak to a rabbi about Hanukkah. A rabbi can answer any questions that you may have about Hanukkah, other Jewish holidays and Judaism in general.

  3. Step 3

Go to a messianic temple or a Jewish Synagogue. While it is true that a large member of the congregation at a messianic temple will indeed be Jewish, there are also plenty of parishioners that are not. Messianic temples celebrate traditional Jewish customs and also believe that Yeshua (Jesus) is the Messiah. In a synagogue you will not see as many non-Jews as in a messianic temple, so choose whatever fits you the best.

  4. Step 4

Learn traditional Jewish prayers that are said during Hanukkah. Prayer is a large part of any religious tradition or holiday, including Hanukkah.

  5. Step 5

Learn traditional songs that are sung during Hanukkah. These, along with the prayers, can be found online and are an integral part of celebrating Hanukkah.

  6. Step 6

Learn how to cook traditional food that is eaten during Hanukkah. Once again, this information can easily be found by searching online. Depending on where you live, you may be able to find this information at your local grocery store, as well.

  7. Step 7

Be sure to separate Hanukkah from Christmas. If you choose to celebrate both, be sure to observe different customs for the holidays. Remember that they are two different holidays from two different customs.
