Most people watch TV, but few of us expect to find ourselves in front of the camera. Even still, life sometimes catches people off guard and they find themselves scheduled for a television appearance of some sort. Believe it or not, there are rules when it comes to looking good in front of the camera.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Time to try on a few outfits

Step1
Consider the camera angle. Will there be a full body shot or will you be seated at a table with just your upper half showing? If you will be at a desk, you can wear jeans or any other bottom that make you feel at ease.
Step2
Pastel shirts work well on camera. The light colors reflect camera lights well.
Step3
Keep jewelry simple. Flashy jewelry can be distracting.

Tips & Warnings

  • Don’t wear white. The color glows on camera and becomes the most dominant thing on screen.
  • Avoid wearing red. It appears to bleed on camera.
  • Black is another poor choice. It is too harsh and can absorb all the light.
  • Don’t wear checks or busy patterns, stripes, herringbone or intricate designs. They are distracting and can sometimes appear to move on camera.
