Curly hair is great because of its versatility. You can wear it stick straight or rock a full head of wonderful ringlets. But many people with curly hair are afraid to it in its natural state because of frizz. The trick to keeping your curls from becoming a frizzy mess is how you prep your hair. These steps should keep your curls frizz-free all day.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Shampoo
  • Conditioner
  • Wide-toothed comb
  • Styling products
  1. Step 1

Shampoo your hair using warm water. Start at the nape of the neck and work around the hairline to the top of the head. Then work the shampoo from the top of the head down the strands in sections. This prevents tangles.

  2. Step 2

Rinse the shampoo out and repeat Step 1.

  3. Step 3

Apply conditioner to hair from root to tip.

  4. Step 4

Let the conditioner sit for three to five minutes.

  5. Step 5

Using a wide-toothed comb, comb your hair in sections working from the ends to the root. This should be the only time you comb your hair at all. If you comb your hair outside of the shower, you will invite frizz to take over.

  6. Step 6

    Rinse conditioner out of hair.

  7. Step 7

Apply a generous amount of hair gel or other styling product that is designed for curly hair and tames frizz.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use styling products designed for curly hair. These products stop hair from swelling in humidity.
  • Make sure to comb hair in the shower only. Combing curly hair outside of the shower separates ringlets and creates frizz.
